We organise stag weekends in 20+ European cities with local teams on the ground, so this list is not based on brochures – it is based on what groups actually book, what they pay and what they tell us afterwards. Our four picks for 2027 are Split, Ljubljana, Krakow and Prague: the best mix of price, activities and nightlife right now. Here is the full ranking, with realistic prices and the activities worth booking in each city.

1. Split – the beach stag do

Split is our number one for 2027. Sun, sea and a party that moves from the boat to the beach to the Old Town – and all of it is bookable through one local team. The season runs May to September, and the weekend revolves around the water: a Split boat party with DJ and swim stops, a beach club party with a VIP lounge, and daytime adrenaline on the Cetina river – rafting, zipline over the canyon or bungee jumping. Nights end in the Old Town bars or at the strip club in the city centre.

Good to know: July and August are busiest and priciest; June and September give the same weather with cheaper apartments. Hvar and Brač are a short ferry away for a day trip. See the Split stag do guide and all Split stag do activities.

2. Ljubljana – adrenaline by day, a compact capital by night

Ljubljana is the stag do for groups who want to do something, not just drink something. Slovenia packs the Alps, rivers and canyons within an hour of the capital: white-water rafting (from 79€ per person), canyoning (from 77€), zipline (from 95€), a rally driving experience or the Lake Bled adventure day. Back in town the centre is small enough to walk, which makes the guided private pub crawl (from 32€) and the club party package (from 50€) easy to combine with dinner.

Good to know: Ljubljana is the only city on this list with ready-made stag packages – adrenaline, paintball-and-party, VIP-with-karting or all-inclusive – so the organiser books the whole weekend in one go. Read the Ljubljana stag do guide.

3. Krakow – the cheapest big-city stag do

Krakow is where a stag budget goes furthest without feeling cheap. The Old Town square is one giant bar crawl, apartments are plentiful and the activities are priced for groups: a guided bar crawl from 29€ per person, a vodka tour (from 59€) or a sit-in vodka tasting (from 49€), shooting from 45€, outdoor paintball from 35€ and indoor go-karts from 45€. For the big night: VIP strip club entry (from 40€), the Vistula boat party (from 59€) or a club party package (from 55€).

Good to know: Krakow works from April to October; the Old Town is walkable, so transfers are rarely needed except for paintball and shooting. See all Krakow stag do activities and how to get to Krakow.

4. Prague – the classic, still worth it

Prague has been the stag capital of Europe for twenty years and the reason is simple: the beer is the cheapest of any capital, the Old Town never closes and there is an activity for every kind of group. Start with a Prague pub crawl (from 29€ per person) or the beer bus (from 50€), add a party boat on the Vltava (from 25€) or a drink at the ice bar (from 28€). By day: shooting from 25€, an archery battle from 34€, a craft beer tour from 30€, go-karting or tank driving. For the groom there is the private stripper or the dwarf hire.

Good to know: Prague is busy every weekend from April to October – book activities and apartments early. Read the Prague stag do guide.

5. Riga – the best-value nights out

Riga is the city where a night out costs the least on this list, and the activities are the kind you cannot do at home: a shooting range with real automatic firearms (from 95€ per person), a 4×4 off-road day in the forest, a bobsleigh ride on the Olympic track in Sigulda, or the Riga beer bike through the Old Town (from 35€, unlimited beer). A strip club night with a private table is from 40€ per person. Riga also works in winter – snow and ice drifting, sauna and hot tub on the river. Read the Riga stag do guide.

6. Budapest – ruin bars, the Danube and a tank

Budapest is the destination we recommend for bigger groups: enough apartments, enough bars and activities that scale. The two bookings almost every group makes are the Danube boat party (2 hours on the river, club entry included, from 29€ per person) and the Budapest beer bus (open-top bus, unlimited beer, from 40€). By day, tank driving on a military training ground (from 450€ per group) is the activity people still talk about a year later, and the thermal baths are the hangover cure. Our Budapest stag do guide covers the ruin bar district and a weekend plan.

7. Dublin – the easy option

Dublin is the stag do with the least friction: short flights from every UK airport, English everywhere, pubs that are the whole point of the trip. It is not cheap – budget more for drinks than in the east – but the activities are strong and close to the centre: tactical laser tag at Flashpoint (from 40€ per person), bubble football, clay pigeon shooting (from 60€) and the Guinness Storehouse. For the night, a private pub crawl through Temple Bar with a local guide saves the group from queueing at the wrong doors. Our Dublin stag do guide explains which areas to go out in and which to skip.

Barcelona, Dubrovnik, Lisbon and the rest

  • Barcelona – beach clubs and big-city nightlife; the priciest on this list.
  • Dubrovnik, Hvar and Zagreb – the other Croatian options: Dubrovnik for the setting, Hvar for the boat-party crowd, Zagreb for a cheaper city weekend.
  • Lisbon, Amsterdam, Berlin, Munich and Hamburg – Western Europe picks when budget is not the first question.
  • Benidorm, Albufeira and Ibiza – sun-and-strip resorts for groups that want a beach and a bar and nothing else.
  • Bucharest and Madrid – worth a look if the group has been everywhere else.

How to choose

  • Budget first: Krakow and Riga, then Prague and Budapest, then Split and Ljubljana, then Dublin and Barcelona.
  • Beach or city: Split, Hvar, Barcelona and the resorts for the beach; everyone else is a city weekend.
  • Adrenaline: Ljubljana and Split for rivers and canyons; Riga and Prague for shooting and tanks.
  • Winter stag: Riga, Budapest, Prague, Krakow and Dublin work from November to March; the coast does not.
  • Group size: 15+ people – Budapest, Prague, Dublin. Under 10 – any of them.

Frequently asked questions

What is the cheapest stag do destination in Europe?

Krakow and Riga, then Budapest and Prague. In all four a full weekend with two activities, a night package and apartments is usually cheaper than a night out at home.

Which destination is best for activities, not just nightlife?

Ljubljana and Split. Both have rafting, canyoning and zipline within an hour of the city, and Ljubljana adds the Alps and Lake Bled.

How far ahead should we book?

Two to three months for a normal weekend, longer for June–September on the coast and for groups above 15. Flights and apartments go first; activities can usually be added later.

Do you organise the whole weekend?

Yes. Pick the city, tell us dates and group size, and the local team sends a tailor-made plan with activities, nights out and transfers.

Which destination is best for a first-time stag organiser?

Ljubljana or Prague: compact centres, everything within walking distance and a local team that has done it hundreds of times.

Still undecided? Send us the dates and the group size and we will tell you honestly which city fits.
